2016 NYCMER Annual Conference: Intersections

As the national dialogue around racial justice grows, museum educators have a responsibility to address if and how they create culturally inclusive spaces for learners of diverse backgrounds through their teaching and programming. This session offers participants tools to assess how their assumptions, language, and experiences may impact learners’ understanding of curriculum, themselves, and others. Participants will be encouraged to identify their cultural assumptions and fears and use reflection tools to create multicultural educational spaces and deepen their self-awareness and cultural consciousness.
